ADVENTURER - ist the name of this serie of paintings. They all are painted on a larger size of water colour paper: 56 x 76 cm.

This type of water colour paper demands more layers of colour and more patience. Some areas need 10 to 12 layers of water colour to reach this colorful effect of e.g. a night blue or sky blue. In contrast these originals offer more depth in the colours than usual. These originals cost between 2900 and 11900 Euros as they take more than 14 days of work. 

 

AVENTURIER - c'est le nom de cette série de peintures. Ils sont tous peints sur un papier aquarelle de plus grande taille: 56 x 76 cm. Ce type de papier pour aquarelle demande plus de couches de couleur et plus de patience. Certaines zones ont besoin de 10 à 12 couches d'aquarelle pour atteindre cet effet coloré de par ex. un bleu nuit ou bleu ciel. En revanche, ces originaux offrent plus de profondeur dans les couleurs que d'habitude. Ces originaux coûtent entre 2900 et 11900 euros car ils nécessitent plus de 14 jours de travail.

This new type of painting is dominated by the length of its design. It impresses the pure speed of these iconic Le Mans cars, like the Ferrari 330 P4 or the Porsche 917 LH. Also available is the Ford GT 40, the winner from Le Mans 24 Hours 1966 and for my french soul the Matra MS 670 with Graham Hill at the wheel. There are one or two new Le Mans icons planned for this brand new layout series. Most impressive is their look on canvas in the incredible size of 60 x 240 cm. But they are also available in other sizes on request.

Painting #173 is the Goodwood masterpiece. Not only the british colours and typical atmosphere of a great day in Lord Marchs park are mentioned, but also that Stirling Moss in the blue Ferrari 250 SWB and Jim Clark in the Aston Martin DB3 delivered a fantastic battle for the Goodwood Tourist Trophy in 1961. Moss won, Clark came third.

Painting #28 is in many ways an outrageous piece of Uli´s art. This study of a moment in time - three minutes to go at Le Mans - combines all the excitement of racing. How will the race endß Will Richard Attwood and Vic Elford (displayed in the painting) triumph at the 24 Hours race? The colours of the painting are great for modern and classic environments. The best sizes are 90 x 120 cm and 120 x 160 cm. In these sizes they are best for a high but not too wide wall.

For historic Formula One fans: Painting #4, #52 and #291 are of course milestones of Uli´s work. The Auto Union on painting #4 is may be the most important - as it was Uli´s first water colour painting of a car at speed in this typical way. This style is Ulis rather abstract and puristic style, which you can find with some other of his paintings. Not only silver arrows of Mercedes (#52 and #291 and #468) but also the Lotus 25 and 49 (#181 and #182), the Maserati 4CLT and 250F (#214 and #279), the Talbot Lago A26 (#277), the Bentleys (#73), the Ferrari Sharknose (#70) and a few other are styled in this way. They look best in 70 x 150 cm or most impressive in 180 x 100 cm on canvas.
